Creating exciting, engaging and interesting illustrations is what I’ve pinned down that I want to explore this year. The major way that I intend go about this is through exploration of character design and storytelling, and currently, my projects consist of a range of things that will challenge me on developing these main skills so that I can hopefully work in game art development in the future.

AI art is currently a hot topic within the design community and definitely within the game art and illustration community, within my dissertation I’d like to be able to discover and inform the key skills needed to enter the game industry and show why AI art will never be able to replace the passion that designers have to create which will then go on to give me useful information to apply to my practice. I’ve been researching game designers, illustrators and animators like Sid Meier, Shigeru Miyamoto, James Baxter, and other talented individuals to help inform my choices for projects and push me forwards in the right direction.

I’ve begun exploring character design and animation more in depth with the aim that my projects can help me to produce some really great work for a portfolio to be able to go on and apply to games companies.
